<Background - Our Experience
For the past 30 years, Dr. Rick Harder has been a practicing dentist in the south Orange County area. He has provided dental care for disabled and geriatric individuals. He and his family also experienced personally the need to provide and arrange for appropriate care for his father when he suffered from a severe back injury requiring major spinal surgery and long-term care. His family shared with other families the common frustrations that they had with few alternatives other than to place their loved ones in a skilled nursing facility. Before long, he resolved to establish his own business to provide dental care for homebound seniors, the permanently disabled and those recovering from surgeries and accidental injuries. He has applied his training, skills and 15 years of experience as a California Dental Plan Director and Quality Assurance Consultant. (Certified by the California Association of Dental Plans.)

<The Beginning for A Helping Hand-at Home
After his own care for his father, as well as learning from recent relevant studies conducted to assess the needs of older adults, Dr. Rick Harder decided to conduct some additional research of the entire industry. He studied the full range of services and the training and credentials of caregivers that could have the best impact for various persons in need of home-based, assisted living services. He reflected on the published findings and recommendations of several federal, state and locally-funded organizations that have emphasized the extensive need for more plentiful and effective home-based care giving for assisted living services. This includes oral health needs assessment and dental care. The "Key Findings" tab will list the summary of one significant recent study.
